Best Computer Monitors – 20, 21, 22 Inch 2013 Guide and Comparison

When I first started writing about monitors a few years back a 20-22 inch monitor was large and expensive. Since then, consumers have demanded larger and larger monitors until the point where a 20-22 inch monitor is now consider standard. Because of the increased demand in larger monitors you can now get an incredible deal on a monitor this size at a price point of half of what they used to be. In this post we’ll review the best rated 20, 21, and 22 inch computer monitors for 2011 based on value, popularity, and specifications.

ViewSonic VX2250WM-LED Computer Monitor

Viewsonic makes quality affordable products which provide consumers with the latest in design and innovation. The Viewsonic 2250WM-LED may be the best selling LED monitor of 2011. It’s inexpensive at right around $150 and it’s 100mm x 100mm VESA compliant so it’s easy to mount it on your wall or monitor stand and it’s ideal for creating a multiple display monitor setup.

The VX2250WM-LED has full high definition 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 5ms response time, and a MEGA 10 million to 1 dynamic contrast ratio allowing it to create clear and vivid detailed imaging and videos.

Sound

This monitor comes with integrated speakers and while they certainly won’t produce crystal clear or quality sound it’s nice to have them when you’re simply browsing the internet or listening to videos on Hulu or YouTube.

Overall

Overall we really like this monitor as a budget option for offices and those looking to do some casual gaming or movie watching. The stand is sturdy, it’s easy on your eyes, and it comes with a DVI and VGA cable so don’t have to purchase it separately. A 3 year warranty with Viewsonic’s pixel performance guarantee is also included.

Acer V223W EJBD 22-Inch Wide LCD Display

Another solid option in this price range is the Acer V223W LCD Display which you can get for about $20 cheaper than the VX2250WM-LED. It doesn’t have full high definition resolution (1680 x 1050) but with this size of monitor you’re more likely to use the 1680 x 1050 resolution anyway.

Overall the picture is good, not great, but you get what you pay for. This is one of the better value options and is perfect for a home office.

Samsung B2230

Although LED monitors are up to 40% more energy efficient than standard LCD monitors the Samsung B2230 makes up for some of that with MagicEco a technology that allows you to work at 50-100% darkness in order to improve its overall energy efficiency. This is a 1080p full high definition monitor which gives you beautiful pictures and vivid detail. It’s an attractive monitor which has a glossy bezel and is thinner than most you’ll come across; however, at around $159 it’s tempting to go with the Viewsonic 2250WM-LED which costs less and has better specifications. The allure to some will come through owning a Samsung device which is made of quality parts and built to last for a long time.

Additional specifications include D-Sub and DVI connectors, a 70,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5 ms response time, Magic Angle, and 16.7 Million display colors.
