As a follow up to our post on the top monitors under $200 this post will review a few solid budget computer monitor options that you can buy for under $100. Despite the inexpensive price we’ve been able to find quite a few mid-sized LED monitors for our picks.
We’ll start with the HP 2011x which you can find for around or just under $100 using Amazon’s wholesale manufacturers. It’s an LED display so it uses considerably less energy and is thinner than CCFL LCDs which should save you money over the long haul. While it doesn’t have full HD resolution ( 1920 x 1080 pixels) it does carry a 1600×900 resolution which is more than enough for a super clear picture on a 20 inch display. In this setting the picture is brilliant, crisp, and accurate with a 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. LED displays have reached beyond conventional LCDs for blacks because new LED technology has made it so that LED lights can be quickly dimmed or turned off altogether. Although this isn’t a gaming monitor it does have a 5ms response time which certainly helps with eliminating the blur while watching action sequences or playing games.
Additional Technical details include a 0.277mm pixel pitch, 16.7 Million display colors, 250 cd/m2 brightness, TN panel, D-Sub, DVI-D connectors, tilt adjustment, and a 1 year parts and labor warranty.
Overall this is a great value at just under or around $100. If I had one complaint it’d be that it doesn’t have an HDMI connector; however, displays in this category are usually limited in their connections.
ASUS VW199T-P 19-Inch LED Monitor
The Asus VW199T-P is another solid option in this category. It’s not quite as big as the HP2011x and therefore doesn’t have quite the same resolution at 1440 x 900 but you still get a very detailed image. The key feature for this particular monitor is that it has the newer LED technology and has built-in speakers which is great for a clean desk look.
