Viewsonic VX2453MH-LED LED Monitor Review

While input lag is certainly an important determination when considering a gaming monitor, response time is where most entertainment and gaming enthusiasts begin. This post will feature several of the latest/new computer monitors which feature low, 1-2ms response times. If you’ve come looking specifically for a gaming monitor, then you may find the gaming monitors tab above useful which compares and reviews the most popular pc gaming monitors at any point in time during the year.

Viewsonic VX2453MH-LED LED Monitor Review

We recently got out our hands on the Viewsonic VX2753MH-LED the 27 inch version of this monitor to try out and use. This new monitor has quickly reached the top the best sellers list of gaming monitors by delivering high specifications at an affordable price. Viewsonic has also made several design changes that have improved it’s overall contrast and portability from previous models.

The blacks on this monitor are deeper than we’ve seen before as Viewsonic’s LED technology now shuts off the LED in order to produce a pitch black pixel. The dynamic contrast ratio is listed at 30M:1 which is certainly helped by this better technology. It’s full HD, 1920 x 1080 resolution, and has a 2ms response time (the 27 inch version is listed as having a 1ms response time). As advertised we see no tearing while playing games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 or watching movies.

Viewsonic has made this design more portable by taking out a lot of the weight in it and making it super-thin. They’ve also added a bookstand feature which allows you to remove the monitor stand and lean the monitor back. This allows you to have the monitor at one more angle – “desk/head level”. Overall this monitor weighs 9 pounds with the stand and is a great option for traveling on business trips or LAN parties.
Technical Details
Other technical details for the VX2453MH-LED include 2 HDMI and D-Sub connectors, built-in speakers, anti-glare surface panel, tilt adjustable Down 5°, Up 20°, 250 cd/m2 brightness rating, 170°(H) / 160°(V) viewing angle, and a 3 year parts and labor warranty with Viewsonic’s Pixel Performance Guarantee.
Overall we feel that this is a great monitor which is rather large but not too large for your work space. Don’t plan on using the internal speakers as they’re just “ok”, but if we rate this monitor on what really matters, picture, we’d give it 4 and a half stars. In comparing multiple sites it seems to be cheapest at Amazon for around $200. For an extra $100 you can get the 27 inch version, so you’ll have to determine if the extra viewing area is worth the price.
